Nothing is going to be as pure and easy as people say. America is moving into a three-tier world, but not just of traditional economic classes. Upper, middle, and lower will each live in their own worlds. Gaps of such magnitude as three countries coexisting within the same border but never interacting. There will be limited to no contact between them. UPPER CLASS Power will be based on the comprehension and command of technology. This is the world according to money, ones, and zeroes. Techy, mobile, and ethereal. Upper Class will be supremacist but necessarily racist. No informing principles but respectable employment—money. No hope or vision for anybody but themselves. No feeling for the nation-state, public spiritedness, responsibility, or religion. No democratic or noblesse oblige instincts, because they view themselves as superior. Upper Class will eventually move to Europe, where America—an embarrassment—will be out of sight and out of mind. As for your future, you cannot be part of Upper Class if you do not possess technical knowledge. Technology is the only way to amass wealth and wealth is the only route to the upper class. This will not change. |
